The Untuned Bell
/ Temporary phase
Bronze bell, Leather pouch, Steel pillars, Wire, Podium, Pedal.
The Bell, a D sharp, 1.4 ton, was removed from the carillion in Oslo Town Hall before the last turn of the century as it was out of tune with the remaining 48 bells. Since then, the Untuned Bell sat mute on the ground in Nauen Bell Foundry.
The artist, brought the bell back. This time on its own, a kilometer away from the other bells in the Town Hall.
The composer Rolf Wallin made a composition which developed over a week from the bells in the town hall . It was performed by carillioneur Vegar Sandholt, as well as transmitted on national radio.
